The school will add notes to the newsletter that have gone home in school bags.  We know that sometimes bags are very hungry and eat school notes!!!
As of this week, when a note has gone home with your child, it will also be uploaded onto the "Notes for Parents" section of the newsletter.  These notes will remain in the newsletter section for 2025, affording you an electronic version to look at.

DONATIONS DROP OFF

Cleaning out your cupboards over the school holidays? Drop your good quality items down to SJV at our donation drop off day!
We’re in need of:
● Toys
● Books
● Second-hand items for the White Elephant stall
● Plants and seeds
All of these things help make our stalls amazing and we’re grateful for your generosity. Please note electrical goods can’t be accepted.
Items can be dropped to SJV school gate between 2pm-4pm on Sunday 12 October 2025 (or anytime during school hours). The fete team will be on hand to assist and there will be labelled boxes for your donations.
If you’ve got a bit of extra time, we’d love you to join the fete working bee at the same time. We’ll be getting things ready and sorting donations. Any time you can give is amazing!

THE FAMOUS SJV RAFFLE

Roll out the green carpet—because our legendary mega cash raffle is back! That’s right, thanks to our Platinum sponsors, Blackshaw’s Weston Creek and Molonglo, we’re once again giving you a shot at glory, riches, and eternal bragging rights (well, until next year).

Here’s what’s on the (literal) money table:

Raffle_Image.jpeg

● First Prize: $1,000 cash
● Second Prize: $500 cash

As you know, we’re on a mission to re-turf our beloved school oval. Every ticket is a blade of grass in our dream of a lush, safe, and gloriously green field—perfect for fun games, friendly soccer matches, joyful cartwheels, and awesome school picnics. We’re requesting that our wonderful school community sell as many tickets as possible to friends, family, neighbours and co-workers to help us make this dream a reality

This year our raffle has gone fully digital!  hop over to Raffletix.com.au

The draw takes place on 5th December, just before the festive season hits.

We’re also on the lookout for superstar volunteers to help at Cooleman Court by selling tickets to members of the public. Your support is important in helping us achieve our fundraising goal for the new school oval.

QKR PRE-FETE SALES

Ride wristbands are now available for pre-purchase on QKR at the discounted price of $25 per child (will be $30 to buy on fete day). Get in early for unlimited turns on the inflatable obstacle course, jumping castle, mega rock-climbing wall and laser tag! You can even pre-purchase for all your friends and family.

    Mass Wednesday 17th September
We had a lovely Mass last Wednesday, led by 5/6P who showed great leadership.  The SJV choir sang their song choices with such reverence - it was really moving.  Fr Loi was so impressed, he said their singing was like "praying twice" What a beautiful moment.

    "Care Takers of Creation" Group
This term, our group came together in response to Pope Francis’s invitation to care for our Earth, as part of our Jubilee Year of Hope.

We gather every Wednesday at lunchtime, and everyone across the school is welcome to join. We enjoy our meals in the beautiful new Indigenous Garden, surrounded by nature.

It’s been a joy to explore the thriving plants, spot birds, and search for the hidden painted stones. We've also rolled up our sleeves to help care for the space—collecting rubbish and pulling weeds.

One of our proudest achievements has been launching an education campaign to collect and recycle 10c containers each week.
    Our savings are steadily growing!

We’re excited for more fun and meaningful moments next term, and we’re always happy to welcome new friends each week.

    ELC News

Belated happy birthdays to Zach and Leon. Happy September birthdays to Billy P, Joshua, Jude, Matteo, Nilav, Milly, Arthur and Hope.

A big thank you to St John Vianney’s for welcoming the ELC to their Sideshow Alley last Friday, and also to St Jude’s primary for their Mini-missions Fete on Wednesday. To make these events so successful takes a lot of effort from students, teachers and families. As well as raising vital funds for Catholic Mission and Mwamba Academy respectively, they provide a wonderful day for children to come together for a bit of fun and for a good cause. For the ELC children, these events help to develop confidence, build connections with the primary schools, and grow a sense of belonging in their local community.  We wish you a safe and happy term break.

    South_Point_Rooftop_Putt_Putt.jpg

This Floriade season, South.Point’s rooftop transforms into Spring Putt Putt — a custom-built, open-air mini golf course you won’t find anywhere else in Canberra. Designed exclusively for Floriade About Town, it’s a colourful, floral, spring-themed activity where every putt is part competition, part photo opportunity.

From blooming backdrops to playful obstacles, each hole brings its own spring-inspired twist. Whether you’re a first-timer or a mini golf pro, the focus is on fun, friendly rivalry, and soaking in the season.

The full course takes around 20 minutes to complete, making it an easy and exciting add-on to your day. You’ll find it on the Rooftop Car Park at South.Point, with travellator and stair access from the main shopping levels and signage to guide you straight to the action. Use the travellators behind EB Games for access.

Spring Putt Putt is made for everyone—families, friends, and even that one mate who insists on keeping score—and when you’ve finished your round, the fun doesn’t have to end! Explore over 180 retailers, savour great dining along Anketell Street, or catch live sport and entertainment at The Point.

Make the trip south, putt among the petals, and enjoy a Floriade experience you won’t forget.
