Molonglo and Weston Creek Consultation Survey
Molonglo and Weston Creek Consultation
As announced late last year the Catholic Education Office is facilitating a consultation on the provision of Catholic Education in Molonglo and Weston Creek. This week there was a meeting with Catholic Education Office representatives, Father Michael Lim and Principals. The consultation is on the agenda for the Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish Council and there is a meeting with Catholic Education Office representatives, Principals and School executive teams today.
Two external consultants have been engaged to assist with the consultation. They are Julie Saunders, an urban planner who has done extensive work with Brisbane schools and Michael Avery, former Director of Catholic Education in the Northern Territory.
Julie and Michael and CE representatives will meet with school staff on Monday 2 March and will also facilitate a parent meeting on Wednesday 11 March, 7.30 here at St John Vianney’s at 7:30pm. You are welcome to attend the meeting. In preparation for the parent meeting you are invited to complete the following survey by Wednesday 4 March.
Parental Survey
The CE is looking for a long term plan for the Weston Creek/Molonglo catchment area for Catholic schooling and would like you, as a parent, to give thought to the following survey.
Currently the CE is analysing how the resources of St Jude's and St John Vianney's can best be used to serve all families in the region for a long term sustainable future. A well-thought out, strategic plan will ensure strong and healthy growth and school capacity for the students of the region for years to come.

Over the past week we have has a fire drill for the ELC children and staff. Although some children did not like the loud noise, they remained calm and listened to their teachers. The ELC participates in a fire drill each term as well as also taking part in whole school drills.
Last week Theresa Corson from the Youth Ministry program came to visit the Turtles and Stingrays. Theresa helped built on the discussions about the meaning of the cross and candle that we use during prayer sessions. This term the ELC will visit the Church with their class to look for symbols and ask questions.
SJV Disco – ELC Families are invited to the St John Vianney’s Disco on Friday 13 March from 5:30pm to 7pm. See the ELC for more information.
ELC Fees – ELC fees are due tomorrow, 28 February. Prompt payment of fees is appreciated.
Community Library call out- If anyone has a structure that would be suitable as a Community Library that you would donate, please let ELC office know. We have the perfect reading chair and hope to add a mini community library.
