CELEBRATING ST JOHN VIANNEY FEAST DAY
MONDAY 5TH AUGUST
Monday 5th August, our school will be celebrating St John Vianney's Feast Day.
St John Vianney is the patron saint of clergy throughout the world. Father Vianney’s friendliness, endless patience, humility and prayer life saw thousands come each year to seek his help and spiritual guidance, he welcomed thousands to the catholic faith.
He was canonized by Pope Pius XI in 1925.
This year, we will be having a rotation of activities all things St John Vianney and will be offering a treat for each child to enjoy.
Happy Feast Day.
Sponsorship and volunteers
We’re on the hunt for helping hands or businesses to support the SJV fete. If you can lend a few hours or you know a business that might want to get involved, reach out to sjvfete@gmail.com to join the dream team!
Sponsors receive great benefits and exposure in return for their support, including promotional signs, MC mentions on fete day, features in our newsletter and on our fete flyer.
Donations
Thank you to everyone who dropped items off on Sunday! Donations make our fete stalls amazing and we’re still in need of clean and good quality items including:
- Toys
- Books
- Second-hand items for the White Elephant stall
- Plants and seeds
- Supermarket paper or plastic bags
We’re so grateful for your generosity! Please note electrical goods can’t be accepted.
Drop off
Items can be dropped to SJV playroom (behind the Kindergarten room) anytime. There are labelled boxes for your donations so please help us out and pop items in the correct box.

School Wide Positive Behaviours

Last night Maryam represented the school in the Rostrum quarter finals where she competed against students from 7 other schools.
Maryam presented her speech with confidence and clear articulation. She got plenty of laughs, in all the right places from the audience!
We are so very proud of you Maryam!

..The theme for Book Week 2024 is "Reading is Magic"..
Throughout the month of August, community organisations, schools and libraries around the country will take part in Children’s Book Week, celebrating the joys of reading for pleasure with classroom activities, competitions, storytelling sessions and, of course, the popular school book parade.
Reading for pleasure has a range of benefits for children and young people. Reading can enhance literacy skills, and has a positive direct effect on academic reading motivation and achievement in later childhood and adolescence. 74% of children agree that reading helps them understand the world better, and 86% of children (age 6-17) said they loved being read books aloud at home or liked it a lot – the main reason being because it is a special time with parents.
At SJV, we will celebrate our book week Monday 26th - Friday 30th August and our Book Week parade is Thursday 29th August before we go into school.
More details to follow next week.

SJV Science excursion
On Wednesday of week 4, the Stingray class will be catching a bus to St John Vianney’s Primary school for an afternoon of science experiments and fun. There will be an option to order a special lunch order on the day. Look out for the permission note in your notes pockets next week.

We hope you have had a wonderful time looking through your child’s portfolio. Please remember to return it to the ELC so we can continue to add to it in semester 2.
