Please find a link to a letter from the Director of Catholic Education, Ross Fox about two planning days in Term 3. The letter gives the timing of these planning days which will be pupil free.
Arrangements will be made for the supervision of those students who need to attend school. The school will provide you with further details well in advance of the days.
I greatly appreciate your understanding of the need for this response in this challenging context. ACT Pupil Free Days T3 2022

Lanyon Excursion
By Alannah
Last Thursday me and my class went to Lanyon Homestead for an excursion.
At Lanyon Homestead we had to pretend that we were convicts. Since we were pretending that we were convicts we had to dig holes in the garden to plant seeds in, carry water around, build fences to keep in the sheep and measure the grain so we could eat it.
Also when we were there, Tracy and Cathy the tour guides showed us some ancient trees. They think they were from the time of the Aboriginals. One had a big chunk of wood missing. The people at Lanyon Homestead reckon that the wood was used to make a canoe to cross the river.
I loved the excursion at Lanyon Homestead. I’d love to go back again to Lanyon Homestead anytime.
Lanyon Homestead Excursion
By Elio
Last Thursday I was excited. Because what was going on was an excursion. And not just any excursion, an excursion to Lanyon Homestead!
We started to get to know about the Lanyon Homestead. After that we got to work as convicts, we also got convict names.
Lanyon Homestead Excursion
By Caitlin
Last Thursday all of Year 3 / 4 went to the Lanyon Homestead.
My first favourite part of Lanyon Homestead is that I became a convict named William Patton, an Irishman who stole pigs.
My second favourite part of Lanyon Homestead is that we did gardening, carried buckets, made a fence for sheep and weighed seeds. I was told what to do by Mr. Wright and Mr. Lockeore.
I enjoyed it but I was happy that it wasn’t too long.
I would like to thank the ELC families, staff, children and the wider parish community for your support during the first half of our preschool year. Together we have faced many challenges. Having said this, the recent family reflection forms have highlighted the many positive experiences and parts of the programs that have been a highpoint for the children which, in some cases, have helped to connect families to their child’s learning. The positive relationships the ELC staff have made with the children and their ability to create environments and experiences that cater for all children was another point that many families made. Your feedback will feed into our Quality Improvement Plan and aid the critical reflections which guide future pedagogy, routines and practices. We value your ongoing feedback and encourage those families who have not yet returned their reflection form to please do so. Thank you all!
Term 3 Dates
Term 3 begins on Monday 18 July for the Turtle and Stingray classes and Thursday 21 July for the Lobster class. The pupil free days at the school do not affect the ELC.
Gymnastics
Thank you to Woden Valley Gymnastics Club for another fabulous term. Many families have asked if there is an opportunity to run another gymnastics program this year. We will seek an expression of interest from families next term and if there is enough interest we will offer gymnastics again in Term 4.
Kenny Koala
This week we had a visit from Constable Kenny Koala to help teach us about community safety. Kenny has been educating children for generations. Emilia was excited to share a photo of her mum as a young child with Kenny.
