Lanyon Excursion
By Alannah
Last Thursday me and my class went to Lanyon Homestead for an excursion.
At Lanyon Homestead we had to pretend that we were convicts. Since we were pretending that we were convicts we had to dig holes in the garden to plant seeds in, carry water around, build fences to keep in the sheep and measure the grain so we could eat it.
Also when we were there, Tracy and Cathy the tour guides showed us some ancient trees. They think they were from the time of the Aboriginals. One had a big chunk of wood missing. The people at Lanyon Homestead reckon that the wood was used to make a canoe to cross the river.
I loved the excursion at Lanyon Homestead. I’d love to go back again to Lanyon Homestead anytime.

Last Thursday I was excited. Because what was going on was an excursion. And not just any excursion, an excursion to Lanyon Homestead!
We started to get to know about the Lanyon Homestead. After that we got to work as convicts, we also got convict names.
Lanyon Homestead Excursion

Last Thursday all of Year 3 / 4 went to the Lanyon Homestead.
My first favourite part of Lanyon Homestead is that I became a convict named William Patton, an Irishman who stole pigs.
My second favourite part of Lanyon Homestead is that we did gardening, carried buckets, made a fence for sheep and weighed seeds. I was told what to do by Mr. Wright and Mr. Lockeore.
I enjoyed it but I was happy that it wasn’t too long.
