So, something quite unexpected happened last Thursday afternoon as seen by our photos below. A rather flustered gentleman burst into the front office—he was a parishioner hosting a launch event that very day. In a last-minute rush, someone had forgotten to arrange a lectern! Since the parish was closed, his next move was to see if SJV might have one to lend… and thankfully, we did.
As it turns out, this wasn’t just any event. The Governor-General, Ms. Sam Mostyn, was attending to mark a historic milestone with Project Independence—a program making home ownership a reality for people with intellectual disabilities. Three individuals in Canberra became homeowners that day, and SJV was honoured to support such a meaningful occasion. We were especially proud to help out as the Governor-General co-signed the deed, and it was pointed out to her that we had been life savers at the last minute. Proud moment.

Please note - Merit Awards will be handed out at NEXT Friday's morning assembly.

Happy Birthday Sophie C and Isla O
A big thank you to the ACT Fire Brigade for visiting the ELC on Tuesday to talk to the Stingrays and Turtles about fire safety. They showed us some of their special equipment and of course give us a close-up look at their fire truck. They will be back again this Friday to visit the Lobsters class.
Dance concert tickets
The ELC has been busily preparing for this year's St Jude's Dance Concert - The Colour Thief. ELC children will be preforming in the matinee performances only:

Tickets are available through CompassTix. See the St Jude’s newsletter for more information. Tickets are limited and usually sell quickly. We can’t wait to see the children shine on stage and look forward to sharing this special event with you!
