School Wide Positive Behaviours
So, we’ve got seeds, pots, and soil... and you’re probably wondering, “What in the world are we up to now?!”
Well, a massive thank you to Bunnings - Majura Park for their donation, helping us teach the kids the fine art of growing their very own grass!
The students have planted their green pals and have gone full-on watering mode, making sure their grass heads grow the longest, hippest hair on the block. ??♀️
And guess what? If you’re up for some Easter fun, swing by the Easter Family Night at Bunnings Majura Park (check out the flyer for more information). Bunnings_Canberra_Airport_easter_event_flyer_002_.pdf
All the children will get a chance at school to dress up their grassheads, and I can’t wait to see the creative chaos they come up with—expect some seriously funky hairstyles and maybe a few grass-head rockstars!! It’s gonna be a "grass-tastic" time!

SRC First Major Project for 2025
On Thursday of Week 10, we’ll be holding an Easter Hat Parade right after the morning bell rings. Students are invited to create an Easter hat that is both creative and meaningful. There will be 4 prizes awarded for the 'Most Creative' and 'Most Meaningful' hats in both K-2 and 3-6 categories.
Following the parade, we’ll also be holding an Easter Raffle. The SRC will be selling raffle tickets throughout Week 10 during recess. Tickets are priced at 50c each, or $1 for 3 tickets. We look forward to seeing you there!

Happy Birthday Mary J and Marley M
What a busy week we have had at the ELC beginning with a visit from Ryka Ali on Monday morning where we explored indigenous culture through music, dance and stories. We then jumped straight on the bus for the St Jude’s Athletics carnival where we enjoyed track and field, an obstacle course and parachute games, and iceblocks to cool down afterwards. On Tuesday we had another bus trip, this time to SJV to join with St Jude’s and St John Vianney’s to celebrate our parish feast day of Our Lady of the Annunciation. We then had a picnic lunch and fun games and activities.
Project Compassion Donations
Throughout Lent, we will focus on the importance of prayer and doing kind things for others, and we will be participating in Project Compassion to help people living in poverty. ELC families are invited to donate. Project Compassion boxes are located on the prayer table in each classroom and children will be able to contribute during morning class prayer.
St Jude Open Day – Thursday 1 May
St Jude’s ELC and primary school will hold an Open Day on Thursday 1 May. There are two sessions: 9:30am - 11am and 4pm - 6pm. We will also hold tours on Tuesdays in May from 9:30 – 11am. Please contact the ELC if you would like a Tuesday tour. If you know any families with children approaching preschool age, invite them along to have a look at our amazing ELC! Online enrolments are open via the ELC page of the school website.
St John Vianney’s Open Days
St John Vianney’s will have Open Day every Wednesday in May from 10:30am to 5pm and Saturday 9:30am – 12:30pm.

Class Parents 2025
Please consider undertaking this role either on your own or with another class parent. It does not require much time and it helps bring people together and build our SJV community. Please fill in the form below and return to school if you are interested, or email your details to peter.rodda@cg.catholic.edu.au.
A big thank you to Jess, Lauren, Lisa, Erin and Helen for taking on the roles for Kinder, Year 1 and 5/6J. That just leaves year 4 without a parent contact for their class. Just like kinder, feel free to share the role among as many people as you like.
Roles of a class contact may include all or some of the items listed below:
- Collate and distribute a contact list of parents and students in their child’s class (if they chose to participate), this often helps with organising children’s parties, sporting teams and play dates. Eg – facebook and What’s app groups.
- Organise class gatherings – this could be with or without children (this is a great way to socialise and usually occurs a couple of times a year but of course could be less or more)
- If required help SJV focus groups find class organisers and\or participants for events and fundraisers.
- Be a point of contact for any parent and families new to the school or class queries.
