SRC First Major Project for 2025
On Thursday of Week 10, we’ll be holding an Easter Hat Parade right after the morning bell rings. Students are invited to create an Easter hat that is both creative and meaningful. There will be 4 prizes awarded for the 'Most Creative' and 'Most Meaningful' hats in both K-2 and 3-6 categories.
Following the parade, we’ll also be holding an Easter Raffle. The SRC will be selling raffle tickets throughout Week 10 during recess. Tickets are priced at 50c each, or $1 for 3 tickets. We look forward to seeing you there!

What an exciting adventure the Stingrays and the Turtles had this week on their first preschool excursion. A big thank you to SJV for hosting us. We enjoyed a ride on the bus, had a play with our SJV buddies and ate lunch together. We met Healthy Harold and talked about making healthy choices. We also read a story about different feelings and recognising them on people’s faces.
“Healthy Harold’s favourite foods are bananas and carrots because they are healthy fruits and vegetables.” Lucy (Turtles class)
“We read a book about Healthy Harold going to a new school. He was shy but then he made friends.” Matteo (Stingrays class)
Excursions – Athletics Carnival and Feast Day
We have two excursions coming up - the St Jude’s athletics carnival at Woden Park on 24 March and the celebration of our parish feast day at St John Vianney’s on 25 March. Check your notes pockets for permission notes. There will be a charge of $8.50 for each excursion which will be added to your ELC fees.
Project Compassion Donations
Throughout Lent, we will focus on the importance of prayer and doing kind things for others, and we will be participating in Project Compassion to help people living in poverty. ELC families are invited to donate. Project Compassion boxes are located on the prayer table in each classroom and children will be able to contribute during morning class prayer.
St Jude’s Fete – This Saturday
Our school fete is a great family day out and a wonderful opportunity to connect with the school community. Remember to pre-order your Fete Mates and ride wristbands through QKR.
Fete Donations – Plant Stall, Trash n Treasure, Cake Stall
We are currently seeking donations for the Plant Stall and Trash and Treasure. Donations can be dropped in the tub in the ELC foyer. Please also help make our Fete Cake Stall a success by contributing home baked goods. If you’re not a baker, no-bake slices are very popular. Remember no fresh cream or items that require refrigeration. Please label all items with a list of ingredients and package items ready to sell.
Calling Volunteers!
Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to elp out on fete day. If you haven't yet, please consider giving an hour of your time to any of the fete stalls. It's a great way to meet other parents and be involved in our school community. To sign up, to to https://volunteersignup.org/FLHJM
See you at the Fete, Mate!

Class Parents 2025
The year again has started busy with many events already planned - the school Swimming Carnival and School Disco just to name a few. These events are often easier and are more enjoyable with parent involvement. Therefore, we are searching for 2025 class contact for each class at SJV. Thank you to our wonderful families that have taken on the class parent contact role for Year 2, Year 3 and 5/6P.
Please consider undertaking this role either on your own or with another class parent. It does not require much time and it helps bring people together and build our SJV community. Please fill in the form below and return to school if you are interested, or email your details to peter.rodda@cg.catholic.edu.au
Roles of a class contact may include all or some of the items listed below:
- Collate and distribute a contact list of parents and students in their child’s class (if they chose to participate), this often helps with organising children’s parties, sporting teams and play dates. Eg – facebook and What’s app groups.
- Organise class gatherings – this could be with or without children (this is a great way to socialise and usually occurs a couple of times a year but of course could be less or more)
- If required help SJV focus groups find class organisers and\or participants for events and fundraisers.
- Be a point of contact for any parent and families new to the school or class queries.

Camp Kianniny 2025 is packed with epic activities! From obstacle courses that would make an army jealous to leadership challenges that are turning these kids into mini CEOs.
Seriously, if we had these sorts of adventures when I was in school, I would've been leading the charge... or at least trying to figure out how to avoid the mud pit!!

SJV Tuckshop is open Wednesday & Friday. Orders can be made online via Qkr! A copy of the Menu and Qkr! instructions can be found on the Tuckshop Webpage.
