The ride wrist band gives your children unlimited access for the whole fete day to all rides. The Wristbands will be sent home in school bags next week.
You will still be able to purchase ride wrist bands on fete day, but the cost will be $30
MEGA CASH RAFFLE
This raffle is essential for our school's fundraising efforts, and every ticket sold truly makes a difference! If you haven't received your raffle ticket book yet, please check your child's school bag from last term. The more tickets we sell, the more funds we raise to benefit your children!
We would love for each family to sell at least one book. To ensure all sold tickets are entered into the weekly draw, please return both sold and unsold tickets along with your payment (Cash or QKR) to the Front Office. Plus, remember that returning your ticket books each week gives your family a chance to win a Domino's Pizza voucher!
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday.
Fete Committee
At the end of each term, the notes will be archived and only the last week of the previous term will be visible in the new term. If you are searching for a note, please go back to the archived newsletters and the term that it was sent home in to find the note you are looking for.

Welcome to Week 3 on the eve of the best Fete ever.
Could I please make a plea for parents to see if they can take a wander up their street to sell their issued book of raffle tickets? If every family sells a book by next week the school will have made over $5000. The bonus is that one of your neighbours could win $1000. Just a short Newsletter this week given that all eyes are on Saturday.
Dear Lord
As we gather together, we praise You for this day and Your purpose for it. Reset our agendas, as we sit in Your presence. For You assure us that where two or more gather in Your name You are here. Recalibrate our intentions and refocus our hearts.
Fete
What do I need to say? If you are not away this weekend and don't have a family emergency or something extremely pressing, then-
- Turn up to help.
- Turn up so your children can jump, tag, climb and have fun.
- Turn up to be part of our community.
- Turn up to enjoy the food.
- Turn up to win amazing raffles.
- Turn up for awesome coffee.
- Turn up to buy some plants.
- Just turn up, we want your family there, you are our community. Together we are our community!
Teachers Right to Disconnect
I am sure that many parents have seen, heard or read about the 'Right to Disconnect' labour laws that are very much in the news. These new laws are very important for the education industry moving forward. How does this affect you and our teachers?
At SJV, we aim to answer parents within a 48hr period. The reality is that most of the time staff get back to parents on the same day. This may no longer be possible if you contact a staff member outside of 5pm or on the weekend. Staff have been instructed to not contact parents over the weekend. Some of our staff are parents as well as teachers and I have discussed this with them. If parents are asking teachers questions that are school/teacher based instead of parent/friend based, then my advice is to leave this communication until they are back at work. Otherwise teaching becomes are 24/7, occupation which it is not. I know that our wonderful community will respect these boundaries.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone at our Fete.

A message from Father Michael
Hello from Father Michael.
I'm inviting all children in year 2 who are baptised Catholics to register for the Sacrament of Reconciliation for 2025. The Sacrament will be conferred early in term 1 2025, so I encourage you to register now to give your child and yourself time to make a good preparation. I thank the families which have already registered.
Register using the Parish Qkr! App (not through the school portal). Each family that registers will receive an activity book through the school.
If you know an eligible family with a child in year 2 or above who doesn’t attend a parish school, please pass on the invitation to them.
Thank you!

Gospel Reflection: Mark 12:28-34
In this Gospel, Jesus reminds us of the two greatest commandments: to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbour as ourselves. These simple but powerful words guide us in how to live each day. For parents, this offers a moment to reflect with children on what it means to love God and others. We can talk about how we show love through kindness, sharing, and forgiveness. By focusing on these two commandments, we help create a caring, compassionate community both at school and at home, following the example Jesus gave us.
Prayer Celebrations Term 4
Year 3 will be leading a whole school prayer celebration on Monday 11th November at 10:45am. The focus of this prayer celebration will be Remembrance Day. All parents and friends of our school are warmly welcome to join us.
Additionally, the school will be hosting a Thanksgiving Prayer Celebration on Monday, 16th December, at 9:30am. This will be a special time for our school community to come together and formally hand over our generous donations for the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. These contributions will provide much-needed support to families during the holiday season. We warmly encourage everyone to join us in giving thanks and reflecting on the importance of helping others, especially during this season of giving.
School Masses Term 4
As a school, we regularly attend the Wednesday morning 9:30 am Mass at St John Vianney’s Church. The choir sings at this Mass and sometimes our students have a role in other parts of the celebration. Parents and friends of our school are welcome to join us alongside parishioners at this Mass. Dates the school will be attending Mass this term are as follows:
Monday 11th November: Prayer Celebration (Remembrance Day), 10:45am (led by Year 3)
Wednesday 13th November: Parish Mass, 9:30am (led by Year 1)
Thursday 12th December: Year 6 Graduation Mass, time TBC
Hygiene Station
We are excited to announce that our SJV Hygiene Station is now up and running in our front office area, and we are welcoming donations of new and sealed hygiene products.!
We are collecting items such as:
- Oral hygiene products (toothpaste, toothbrushes)
- Deodorant, body spray, and perfume
- Body wash and soap
- Hair care items (shampoo, conditioner)
- Face wash and skincare products
- Moisturiser and hand sanitiser
- Sanitary products
- Toiletries bags
These donations will be distributed through the Saint Vincent de Paul Society of Canberra Goulburn, ensuring they reach those in our local community who need them the most.
If you’re wondering how you can contribute, here are a few simple ideas:
- Planning a holiday? If you visit a hotel and don’t need the complimentary toiletries, consider bringing them home to donate to our hygiene station. Please ensure they are sealed.
- Shopping for yourself? Next time you’re buying a new toothbrush or bottle of shampoo, why not pick up an extra one to help someone in need?
Please note - Merit Awards will be handed out at NEXT Friday's morning assembly.

World Teachers’ Day was celebrated on 25th October, a day dedicated to recognising the incredible contributions of our teachers, who shape, guide, and inspire our students every day.
On behalf of the SJV community, the SJV Community Council organised a special delivery of cupcakes to show our appreciation for our amazing staff to thank them for their hard work and dedication to our children. Special thanks to Ash Donley (Year 1 and Kindy mum) from My Sweet Lady for creating these delicious treats!

Mini Missions Fete - Tuesday 12 November
In Week 5, Year 6 will hold our annual Mini Missions Fete which will raise funds for the Mwamba Academy in Kenya to help build classrooms, supply clean water and schooling necessities. This year the Mini Missions fete will be cashless. Students will use a 'helping hand' to purchase items from the stalls, these need to be purchased through Qkr! before 12 noon on Monday 11 November. The fingers can then be ripped off and used at each stall. There is no limit to the number of ‘Helping Hands’ purchased for each child. There will be no refunds provided on helping hands at the end of the Missions Fete. We are looking forward to the wonderful stalls that Year 6 have planned!
