Dear SJV Community
Welcome to the end of Wk 9.
Draw us forth, God of all creation.
Draw us forward and away from limited certainty
into the immense world of your love.
Give us the capacity to even for a moment
taste the richness of the feast you give us.
Give us the peace to live with uncertainty,
with questions,
with doubts.
Help us to experience the resurrection anew
with open wonder and an increasing ability
to see you in the people of Easter.”
Direct Instruction - ABC News Article
At SJV and throughout the CE system you will hear reference to our mode of teaching, Direct Instruction. Our wonderful Highly Accomplished teacher, Mrs Malpas found this article on the ABC which parents may be interested in as it describes what our Pedagogy is based on at SJV. Whilst the highlighted school is very different from ours, their means of instruction based on the Science of Learning and the Science of Reading is very similar. Thanks
A big thank-you to Woolworths Tuggeranong who have contributed towards our school Disco and Carnevale events. This will also mean a small reduction in prices at two or three of our future events. Therefore if you are looking at shopping outside the 'Creek', give the fresh food people in Tuggeranong a visit!
Absence Notifications and Welfare Checks
As part of our procedure at SJV, we like to know our students are safe. As such if we have not heard from you and your child has been absent for two days, your classroom teacher will reach out to you, either with a phone call or email to make sure that you are all OK. If a note has already been sent to the school, a Compass message, email or note then you will not be contacted.
Term 2 Winter Uniform
A reminder that you may want to stock up with warmer clothes next week or the week after from the Uniform Shop. Term 2 and 3 is Winter uniform, if you are unsure what this is, please chat to Jess in the shop, she will be happy to help.

A shout-out to Anna (pictured below) who came first in one of her four races. If you have a child who is excelling in a sport that is somewhat out of the box, please send us a photo so we can highlight the great things our students do.

A message from the Assistant Principal and Mrs D's "Thought of the Week"
Good Friday and Easter encompass more than just chocolate eggs and extended weekends, although these aspects certainly have their appeal. For Catholics, these occasions carry profound significance. Good Friday marks the solemn commemoration of Jesus Christ's crucifixion, symbolising His voluntary sacrifice for humanity. It prompts introspection on His boundless love and selflessness, underscoring the themes of forgiveness and redemption.
Then, on Easter Sunday, Catholics rejoice in the most joyous occasion of the year. This day celebrates the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, symbolising His triumph over sin and death. His triumph offers believers the assurance of eternal life and demonstrates His ultimate power over all things. Even in the darkest of times, Easter serves as a beacon of hope, reminding us of the possibility of new beginnings and the enduring presence of light.
Together, Good Friday and Easter form the cornerstone of the Christian faith, embodying the profound love of God and the promise of salvation. Amidst the festivities and gatherings with loved ones, it's essential to take a moment to ponder the profound significance of these sacred days. They are not merely dates on the calendar but rather a celebration of hope, renewal, and the ultimate victory of love over despair.
As we near the end of Term One, I reflect the special and generous community we have here at SJV and I thank each of you for the role you play in making it wonderful.
Special thanks at this time of the year to our staff who have worked hard to do all they can to support such a range of children and families. I also acknowledge and thank the parents who can help in those extra ways SCC, Canteen Volunteers, Clothing Pool, Carnival Helpers, library Helpers and disco Volunteers. Thanks for making SJV the extraordinary place it is.
Mrs D’s ‘Thought of the Week….’
Wishing you all an Easter filled with happiness and the love and grace of God.

We will be travelling to and from St Jude’s by bus in the morning, with Years 3-6 arriving shortly before 9:30am for Mass at St Jude’s Church, while Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 will arrive shortly before 10am for a Prayer Celebration in the St Jude’s school hall. After this, everyone will be coming together to eat lunch (please send your child to school with lunch boxes and water bottles as usual) then enjoy some shared play time. Students will then participate in some buddy activities and return to school by 1pm.
