Term 2 begins Wednesday 27th April 

Announcement - Year 1 Teacher

I can announce that Elizabeth Diskin will be working on Year 1 with Mrs Janice Spackman next term.  Elizabeth has just on 28 years’ experience in the classroom teaching all grades.  Recently she has worked in Reading Recovery and has completed the IntialLit Course which will help with Year 1 Literacy implementation next term.   

Conveniently, Mrs Diskin can work flexibly, and this has enabled Mrs Spackman to take the lead on the class next term, teaching three days per week.  This will ensure the best possible continuity for Year 1, before Mr Young takes on the class in Week 7 of Term 2.  

Mrs Diskin came into the school today on a voluntary basis to work with Mrs Spackman and Mrs Dunley to ensure a smooth handover and effective programming for next term.  She was introduced to the students and looks forward to teaching them soon.

SJV Tuckshop is open Wednesday & Friday.  Orders can be made online via Qkr!  A copy of the Menu and Qkr! instructions can be found on the Tuckshop Webpage.

The roster will be emailed out in the next couple of weeks for Tuckshop Volunteers.

Please remember to bring your WWVP- (Working with Vulnerable People) card with you.

A Winter Canteen Menu will be available from Term 2 and Term 3.

Holiday Care – The ELC will be open for a holiday care program for all 48 week enrolments. The ELC program runs from 8am to 5:30pm for the two weeks (minus Good Friday 15^th, Easter Monday 18^th and Anzac Day Monday 25^th April).   

First Week of Term 2

Monday 25 April - Anzac Day – Public Holiday – ELC Closed

Tuesday 26 April - Pupil Free Day - 48 Week enrolments attend the ELC Holiday program, 8am – 5:30pm

Wednesday 27 April - Stingrays and Turtles first day of Term 2

Thursday 22 April – Lobsters first day of Term 2

Gymnastics Program – Next term ELC children will be attending gymnastics lessons from week 2 to week 10, conducted by qualified instructors at Woden Valley Gymnastics Club.  We are very lucky to have such a great facility so close to our school.  Permission notes will be sent home in week  with fees added to term 2 accounts.

Working Bee

A big thank you to those families who were able to join us for our Working Bee last weekend, many hands made light work. Our yard is looking very impressive ready for our open day next term.

Project Compassion

During Lent, children are welcome to bring in donations for Project Compassion to help people living in poverty.  For every $3 donated we will contribute rice to the class jar.  At the end of Lent we will cook and share the rice.  Children are invited to wear purple on the last day of term to representing Lent.

2023 Online Enrolments – You are now able to submit online forms for enrolment in Catholic schools and ELCs for 2023.  A reminder to all ELC families that you do need to submit an enrolment form for Kindergarten in 2023.  To access on-line enrolment, visit the relevant school website.

Enrolment Zones

Enrolments are now open for the Primary schools (St Jude and St John Vianney) and ELC for 2023.

Enrolments are based on a priority system.
