Dear Parents and Carers
Classroom Placement 2022
Last year we advertised the fact that we were moving away from a Friendship Five Model of class placements and utilising the teacher’s professional judgement. There is still however, the option for parents to book an interview through the Front Office to meet with me to relay important information that they think the school should know that could impact our decision making process. If you would like to meet to discuss next year’s class placements please contact the Front Office. The cut-off for this discussion is Wednesday 1st December.
Parent Teacher Interviews
These take place next week. If you have not booked a time through the Compass Portal, I encourage you to please do so as soon as possible.
Swimming Week 11 Cancelled
Unfortunately the school has decided to cancel our scheduled swimming for this year. The decision to implement the program was made pre-pandemic and the school has made this decision in the best interest of the children’s safety.
School Community Council – 2022 Vacancies
I would like to thank Josie Lopez and Rebecca McMahon for their hard work on the council over the last few years, especially during the challenges of the Pandemic. Both ladies will be stepping down from the end of this year. As such the council has two vacancies. If you believe that you can add value to helping shape the future of our school please email the Front Office or myself directly.
Patience in the time of a Pandemic
Since the return of students from Lockdown staff have noticed that some students are experiencing anxiety and a variety of emotions as they come to terms with life’s new normal. I recently heard a person on the radio comment that, despite the changes incurred by the COVID restrictions, workplaces still become very intense in the last few weeks of the year. When you consider that the last weeks are normally comprised of farewells, graduations and changing circumstances it is little wonder that peoples’ nerves and emotions become a little frayed.
I can honestly say to you that schools are certainly no different to any other workplace or community. When you combine tired groups of children, staff and parents often the outcomes can be a little problematic. For that reason, I ask for your patience and support over the next few weeks as we all work together to give the children the best possible end to their year.
God Bless and keep safe.
Peter Rodda
Principal
Please note - Merit Awards will be handed out at NEXT Friday's morning assembly.

Last day of preschool
If your child will not be attending on their last day in Week 11, please email the ELC office so that the last attending day can be amended in our booking system. This will prevent you having to pay full fees as you would not be entitled to your usual CCS.
Holiday Care December
The ELC will be offering Holiday Care on Monday 20, Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 December. Please email the ELC office if you would like to make a booking. Please note that bookings for Holiday Care will not be accepted if fees are in arrears.
Library books
With the end of term fast approaching, please have a look around your house for any St Jude’s library books that need returning.
ELC Fees – End of Year Reminders
We've had a very unusual term with gap fee waivers and 11 weeks so your account balance will be not be the 'usual' amount. Please check your balance before paying your account. Also remember to cancel automatic payments now to avoid overpaying your account. ELC fees are due on Friday 26 November.
Signing Children in/out of the ELC
From next week families and carers will return to signing their children in/out of the ELC. iPads will be located outside the gate, please sanitise hands before using the iPad.
Initially you will be asked to 'accept' the absences (from the period of lockdown), and 'accept' the sign in/out from the period of the return to school where staff have signed children in and out.
Christmas Photography Fundraiser
Fifth Lane Photography are offering Christmas portrait sessions. Shopping centre Santa photos won’t quite be the same this year so this is a wonderful alternative. The ELC will receive $20 for each session booked.
