Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome to the end of Week 4.For the people who missed the email sent out last week, I would like to announce that Mrs Thomas who is currently working at St Matthews Page as their REC, has been appointed as the permanent REC (Religious Education Coordinator) at St Francis of Assisi Calwell for 2022 and beyond.
Sharee has been the REC at St John Vianney’s since 2012 and she will be sorely missed as a teacher and executive member of our school. We wish Mrs Thomas all the best on her continuing educational journey at her new school.
Canteen– Parent helpers
Our canteen is scheduled to begin next Wednesday. We are sorely in need for parent helpers and the survey that I placed out last term indicated that we had parents who were eager and willing to help. We now need that help, otherwise without enough volunteers we will need to close the canteen until we have a functioning roster.
A reminder that all parent helpers who come into the school to work in the canteen, need to have an up to date WWVP Card and be double vaccinated. Please find the volunteer note in the Tuckshop page in this newsletter.
God bless everyone and stay safe

World Teachers’ Day
Every day, teachers are shaping the future and making a profound difference to young lives.
Celebrated in more than 100 countries worldwide, World Teachers’ Day was
established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in 1994 to recognise the role of teachers in society. This year, UNESCO will focus on the support teachers need to fully contribute to the recovery process under the theme ‘Teachers at the heart of education recovery’.
In Australia, World Teachers’ Day will be celebrated tomorrow, 29 October 2021, providing an opportunity for communities to say 'thank you' and celebrate the achievements and leadership of all educators.
It is an opportunity to take a moment to recognise the passion of teachers and how teaching has extended beyond the classroom in maintaining connections through remote learning.
Let us make sure teachers know we appreciate their resilience, leadership and adaptability throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
St John Vianney’s will be celebrating World Teachers’ Day on the return of all staff and students on site next week. On Tuesday 2 Nov all staff will enjoy a special lunch, with both savoury and sweet treats.
In the meantime if you would like to get involved, send a message of thanks to our staff on our Facebook Page or click here to find other ways to acknowledge the hard work of all the SJV staff.
On behalf of the children and families I thank each staff member for their efforts during the year so far. We celebrate World Teachers Day on Friday knowing that the staff at St John Vianney’s continue to strive to do ordinary things extraordinarily well.

ELC NEWS
Happy Birthday Callem
It is so good to see you all back and to hear the sound of children busy learning. The children have all settled back in beautifully and have adapted to our new drop-off and pick-up procedures well. This is a great opportunity for your children to be independent and to help transition to Kindergarten, having to say goodbye at the gate, and to carry and put away their own belongings.
Kinder 2022 Orientation
St Jude’s and St John Vianney’s Kindergarten 2022 orientation has been set for Wednesday 17 November. You will receive correspondence from each school with more information.
Preschool 2022 Orientation
Unfortunately, this year due to COVID restrictions, we are unable to have an orientation session for preschool children attending in 2022. We will be sending out an information pack and providing a virtual tour of our Early Learning Centre.
ELC Fees
ELC fees are due this Friday 29 October. If you are experiencing difficulty paying fees due to Covid, please contact the ELC office as soon as possible.
Christmas Photography Fundraiser
Fifth Lane Photography are offering Christmas portrait sessions. Shopping centre Santa photos won’t quite be the same this year so this is a wonderful alternative. The ELC will receive $20 for each session booked.
