Principal's Message

Welcome to the end of Week 7

Lenten reflection

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.”  John 3:16

It is a profound act of love for the Father to give us His Son.  The Son meant everything to the Father, and the gift of the Son to us means that the Father gives us everything.  He gives His very life to us in the Person of Jesus.

Lent for me, is not so much a time of giving something up as it was when I was at primary school, but a time of giving.
If you find an opportunity, please see what you can do to help your neighbour.

Working Bee

Yesterday you will have received a digital flyer for our Easter Working Bee, a hard copy will be sent home with all children today.  This will be the a wonderful opportunity to really spruce up our school up and make it look as appealing as it can before the holidays and our enrolment period in Term 2.

There are planned activities for the children (Easter Movie, Art and craft, Easter egg hunt etc) and a sausage sizzle for everyone.  If you could please donate 1-3 hrs of your time it can make an enormous difference to how our school looks.

Playgroup – Odd Weeks

Playgroup is officially back on, beginning at 9:30am on Wednesday in Wk 9. The program will continue as a supervised program on every odd Wednesday for the remainder of the year. The room will still be available for parents to use in even weeks as well.  Normal school practices will apply with parents needing to sign in and observe Covid safe rules.

Pupil Free Day (No students) Term 2 – Monday 19th April

This is a reminder that the first Monday of Term 2 will be a Pupil Free Day.  This has been designated by the Catholic Education Office to help with the rollout of the Catalyst Professional Learning Agenda that CE is implementing in all Canberra Goulburn Catholic schools.

Entertainment Book – Let’s Celebrate 2021

Don’t forget one of our school fundraiser’s is the Entertainment Book.  This is a win/win, as parents receive great local discounts and the school receives a donation for every book sold.

Please buy a book if you dine local and support our school.  You can sign up for a great discount using the hyperlink below. – www.entbook.com.au/2323g4

Easter hat Parade – Thursday 1st April 3:00pm

To finish the term with a fun event the children will be showing off their Easter Hats in a fabulous parade at the end of the day outside at our assembly area.

This means that you be able to spend some quality time over the next two weeks coming up with a great idea for an Easter Hat.  Recycling is totally allowed, so hopefully every child in the school will be able to show off their fine "fez".

School Registration

Every 5 years non-government schools go through an extensive registration process to ensure quality education is being delivered to the community.  This process delivers commendations and recommendations and is a great way for a school to set future goals so they can continue to deliver quality results.

St John Vianney's will undergo this process Monday of Wk 9 through to Wednesday of Week 9.  There are seven panel members who will visit every classroom and rigorously view all documentation connected with teaching and learning and administration.  I will be asking some parents to come in and meet the panel so the panel members can hear from family representatives.

We are looking forward to this review so we can continue to move forward as an educational community.

God bless you and your families
