Writing Teachers, Teachers of Writing - Celebrating children's writing

Writing Corner:

Hear the leaves rustle around you,

Smell the green grass,

See the trees and bushes billowing in the wind,

Taste the smell of flowers on the breeze,

Feel how the small critters feel,

Be calm in this place,

Taste the free air,

Be kind to nature,

Feel the moist grass around you.

The Puppy in th Box

by Zoe 2JB

One day there was a little puppy named Poppy. She lived at the box factory.  One day she was playing hide and seek with the workers from the box factory. Poppy could not find a hiding spot. She saw a box so she hid in it.  No one could find her.  Then the box started to move until it tumbled over.  Then it was bumpy.  They had gone for a ride to the shops.  Someone came and opened the box.  It was Mark. Mark works at the box factory. "What are you doing in there?" said Mark.  He was very surprised to see Poppy. Poppy said "You found me!".  Did I win? she wondered.  I think yes!

Once upon a time there was a dragon

in a hole with marshmallows.

The colour was pink and white.

Excerpt: Convict Diary Entries: 13th May 1987 - Life on a Vessel.

On the 13th May, 1787, I sailed on the Alexander bound for Botany Bay.  I see stinky bins, spiders, rats an toilets.  I got food, army rations. Vomit is dropping from the roof.  The salt on the food is making me seasick.  The guards treat me nice sometimes. The beds are just the floor with splinters and spikes.  My crime was stealing bread for my family.
