A message from the Assistant Principal and Mrs D's "Thought of the Week"

with Nina De Rosa

National Child Protection Week 7 - 13 September 2025

Overarching message: ‘Every child in every community needs a fair go’

This year National Child Protection Week will continue to champion the overarching message:

Every child in every community needs a fair go.

Last year we did so by putting conversations at the heart of the campaign.

We encouraged communities and individuals across Australia to start a new conversation, one that forged a better future for young people everywhere

To build on last year’s focus, our theme for 2025 will be:

Every conversation matters: Shifting Conversation to Action.

Conversations between

…children and their caregivers matter (from the very earliest days)

…children and their peers matter

…families with teachers, doctors, and other professionals matter

…friends or neighbours matter

…decision-makers and the communities they serve matter.

And, of course, conversations in the public realm and media matter…

So this National Child Protection Week we invite you to speak up – and speak together – about what needs to change for every child in every community to have a fair go.

This theme provides a platform to:

  • engage in important conversations,
  • promote the value of conversations, and
  • equip us to have conversations that keep kids safe.

More resources to support families can be found on the NAPCAN (National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect)website.

I have attached the brochure for tips on interacting and communicating with children.
