Principal's Message
Dear SJV Families
Welcome to the end of Wk 7.
A Spring Prayer
Spring is a metaphor for change. Some changes we eagerly await, and some we abhor. Some changes we plan and others arrive uninvited. To all these changes we ask the gift of Your perspective beckoning us to expectation, hope, and rebirth.
May the sunlight and the rain be reminders that You are at work renewing the earth. As a God of renewal, You are ever at work in our lives, too.
Open our eyes and lives to the needed changes in our lives this Spring. Awaken us to new life and perspective, for we pray in Jesus’ name.
Prayers
It is with deep sadness that I let you know that our former ICT teacher and colleague; Ben Lowe’s son Finn, sadly passed away suddenly surrounded by his loving family.
Finn Benjamin Lowe aged 16 years old, fought a courageous battle through his life where his heart is now peacefully at rest.
We hold Ben, his wife Jamie and daughter Grace in our prayers and hearts.
A funeral service will be held at St Anthony's Church Wanniassa tomorrow at 11am.
Eternal rest grant unto Finn, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God,
Rest In Peace.
Amen.
Father's Day
A huge thank you to the wonderful team that has organised tomorrow's event. It will be great to see our dads enjoying a sandwich and a coffee. I look forward to seeing which dad and son/daughter team that can design, fold and fly their plane the furthest in our fun competition.
Principal's Conference and Leave
The last two weeks saw me in Queensland attending two significant conferences. the NCEC had some significant people involved at their conference, from the federal education minister and Catholic Bishops to internationally recognised speakers. I have placed below a few brief points which won't do justice to what I heard.
In Conversation: With Archbishop Anthony Fisher and Jason Clare
- Insights from both men as to what they believe is important in education
- The fact that Jason Clare believes in a choice of different systems for parents when it comes to education
- What each person would have done if their roles were reversed. Fair funding was a point that was openly discussed.
Steve Constantino – Why Families Matter
- The key five points that Steve raised were reaffirming but also challenging. Especially point three with building efficacy for our families.
- Analysing any preconceived ideas we have about our community
Dylan Williams – Everyone Counts
I have heard Dylan Williams before so some of his points were familiar.
- Challenging expert educators (or any expert in any field) that their way may not always be correct.
- Analysing Aristotal, an AI coaching tool. I see this as an exciting way to take some of the load off our coaches where they could work in tandem with such a tool when working with our staff
I look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow.
