Gospel Reflection: Mark 10:35-45
In this Gospel, James and John ask Jesus for special places beside Him, but Jesus teaches them a deeper lesson. He explains that true greatness comes from serving others, not seeking power or recognition. As a community, this reminds us to encourage our children to think about how they can help and care for others. By showing kindness, including everyone, and putting others first, we follow Jesus' example. As families, we can talk with our children about what it means to serve and how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of others.
School Masses Term 4
As a school, we regularly attend the Wednesday morning 9:30 am Mass at St John Vianney’s Church. The choir sings at this Mass and sometimes our students have a role in other parts of the celebration. Parents and friends of our school are welcome to join us alongside parishioners at this Mass. Dates the school will be attending Mass this term are as follows:
Wednesday 23rd October: Grandfriends’ Day Mass, Time: 9:30am (led by Kinder)
Monday 11th November: Prayer Celebration (Remembrance Day), 10:45am (led by Year 3)
Wednesday 13th November: Parish Mass, 9:30am (led by Year 1)
Thursday 12th December: Year 6 Graduation Mass, time TBC
Hygiene Station
We are excited to announce that our SJV Hygiene Station is now up and running in our front office area, and we are welcoming donations of new and sealed hygiene products starting in Term 4!
We are collecting items such as:
- Oral hygiene products (toothpaste, toothbrushes)
- Deodorant, body spray, and perfume
- Body wash and soap
- Hair care items (shampoo, conditioner)
- Face wash and skincare products
- Moisturiser and hand sanitiser
- Sanitary products
- Toiletries bags
These donations will be distributed through the Saint Vincent de Paul Society of Canberra Goulburn, ensuring they reach those in our local community who need them the most.
If you’re wondering how you can contribute, here are a few simple ideas:
Planning a holiday? If you visit a hotel and don’t need the complimentary toiletries, consider bringing them home to donate to our hygiene station. Please ensure they are sealed.
Shopping for yourself? Next time you’re buying a new toothbrush or bottle of shampoo, why not pick up an extra one to help someone in need?
