Confirmation 2024
In Week 6, six of our students will receive the Holy Spirit through the sacrament of Confirmation. This sacred rite marks an important milestone in their faith journey, deepening their connection with God and affirming their commitment to the Catholic Church. Confirmation represents the strengthening of the gifts of the Holy Spirit received at Baptism, empowering individuals to live out their faith with courage and conviction. We are proud of our students as they take this significant step, and we ask our school community to join us in praying for them as they embrace this special moment in their spiritual lives.
Key Dates:
Saturday - 24th August/Sunday 25th August: Gathering Masses
Tuesday - 27th August: Reflection Hour/Preparation Hour, 5:30pm, St John Vianney’s Church
Wednesday - 28th August: Sacrament of Confirmation, 6pm, St John Vianney’s Church, (celebrated by Father Richard Thompson)
Gospel Reflection: John 6:60-69
In this Gospel, Jesus speaks words that some found difficult to accept, leading many to walk away. Yet, Peter, speaking for the Twelve, declares their faith, saying, "Lord, who shall we go to? You have the message of eternal life." This passage reminds us that, even when we face challenges in understanding or living out our faith, Jesus offers us the path to eternal life. As a community, we should remember to stay close to Jesus, trusting in His love and guidance, especially when things seem difficult or confusing.
School Masses
As a school, we regularly attend the Wednesday morning 9:30 am Mass at St John Vianney’s Church. The choir sings at this Mass, and sometimes our students have a role in other parts of the celebration. Parents and friends of our school are welcome to join us alongside parishioners at this Mass. The dates the school will be attending Mass this term and next term are as follows:
Term 3 Week 9 - Wednesday 18th September: Parish Mass, 9:30am (Led by Year 3)
