Dear SJV Families

Welcome to the end of Wk 5.

Q.What is the definition of the show must go on? A. A cohort of teachers and students who are unwell, but hard working together to create a superb musical for our school community!

Dear God, thank you for giving me life and my artistic and athletic abilities. Help me to perform and play well, to use my talents to the fullest. Help me to use them as gifts from you.  Xavier University

TTFM Survey - URGENT

If you have not already done, so can I ask that you jump on the TTFM Survey that was sent to you last Friday via Compass.  It would be great to have some more feedback to help shape our school.  Thanks for your help with this.

Concert

Wow, wow, wow!  What an amazing performance the children gave us yesterday morning and last night.  Performing with colds and illness, fast changes and last minute stand-ins, they covered it all.

I would like to thank our parents, grandparents and friends who turned up to support our students, I know that this meant a lot to them, as it does to all the teachers as well.

The feedback I received was nothing but positive and you could see by the beaming faces of the children, that they had a blast.

I would like to thank my whole staff, whether it was making trees or gift baskets, organising ticketing and lighting, sorting sound to seats, or early mornings to late nights, they really put in a huge effort to make this special for your children.

Special thanks goes to Mrs Mullamphy as Director, Producer and Writer extraordinare and Mrs Mitchell, piano genius, as without them, no-one would have followed the yellow brick road!

Book Week

Next Thursday we will be holding our fabulous Book Parade at 9am and all are invited.  This is a chance to emphasize and celebrate the joy of reading.

As part of our celebrations we will have a visiting author come to the school on Monday, and tying in with the non-fiction section, we are holding a science incursion on Friday.

There will also be fun games and prizes emanating out of the library throughout the week, I can't wait!

SRC (Student Representative Council) Semester Two

Congratulations to our new SRC members,

Hanston and Jassnoor (Year 5/6P),

Hayden and Kate (Year 5/6J),

Nate and Nadia (Year 4) and

Sebastian and Lily (Year 3).

I am sure that these students will come up with some great ideas on how we can improve our school.

Athletics Carnival

I have just spoken to Mrs Spackman who reported that the children were absolutely beautiful at the carnival today.  On top of that, they ran and jumped well too!  It is wonderful to see the values of our school being lived out in the wider community.  Watching our children greet other participants and display a high level of sportsmanship is always a beautiful sight. A big thank you to all the parents who came, cheered and helped the children on the day.

Absence Notification

Our new system has begun without too many issues.  Can I ask that if you get an absence notification because you child is sick and away from school, that you click on the link provided, which will direct your explanation to the school.  This will save Jet in the Front Office a lot of time fielding phone calls/emails and it will be faster for parents too.  This will be the preferred method of absence notification moving forward, not Schoolzine.

Father's Day - 30th August

Next Friday we will be celebrating all things DAD!  Pastries and tea and Coffee will be served in the hall from 8am in the morning.  As a fun activity, dads and children can make paper planes and test them in the adjacent courtyard.  By 8:45am a final model with dad's name on it must be chosen and then dads will fly them off the stage (if you can't stay your child can fly it for you), to see who our budding aeronautical engineers are.

If dads have the time we are also inviting them into open classrooms from 9:00am to 9:30am to see the type of work their children are completing.

Don't forget to grab what you want to eat on Qkr!
