Science Week

Science Week 2024

National_Science_Week.jpg

We kicked off Science Week for 2024 with a focus on science experiences and fun with experiments we had!
Lets call it SJV SCIENCE EXPO!!!
. Mentos in coke and a bicarb rockets
. Volcanoes - made with vinegar and soda
. Bubble snakes
."Spheros" obstacle course
. Circuits using lemons
. Straw meets potato causing air pressure test
. Made lava lamps
and many more.
The ELC Stingray class joined us for an afternoon of exploration and discovery.
There's something about our wonderful school - the older students working and helping the younger students is always such a beautiful sight to see. As the ELC staff commented so eloquently "You have such a beautiful community".
???
All SJV and ELC children took home Show Bags ?️?️to continue the fun at home…
From all accounts, last night's dinner was a little late getting to the table, as the children were keen to keep working through their showbags to do all their experiments!!
? A very special thank you to Mrs Spackman who spent many hours deciding on experiments and putting them altogether, the teachers who assisted on the day, the Yr 6 leaders and the SRC for all your preparations. Congratulations on a fantastic day.
?A special mention and thank you to The Australian Science Teachers Association for awarding SJV with a National Science Week School Grant of $500 that supported our National Science Week activities and enabled the showbags to be sent home for all children to keep experimenting.
