ELC news

Happy Birthday Lillian H

Illnesses

There are many illnesses in the community at the moment including influenza. If your child is unwell, please inform the ELC office and the teachers of symptoms or diagnoses as we are required to record this information to identify possible outbreaks. As always, it is important to keep children at home if they are unwell.

SJV Science excursion

On Wednesday of week 4 the Stingray class will be catching a bus to St John Vianney’s Primary school for an afternoon of science experiments and fun. Please return your permission notes as soon as possible.  A special SJV Meal Deal order form has also been sent home. Orders are cash only and must be received before 3pm on Monday.

Floriade Gnomes

Each year the ELC supports the Canberra Rotary Club’s Floriade Gnomes. We have purchased gnomes from Rotary for the children to paint in the lead up to Spring.  We are looking forward to creating our own gnome wonderland in the gardens around St Jude’s for our whole community to enjoy.

Gymnastics Term 4

We always receive great feedback from children and parents when we participate in the gymnastics program at Woden Valley Gymnastics Club. We are seeking input from all ELC families about another term of gymnastics. If you would like us to do a 9 week program in Term 4, please let us know on the document at the sign in desk.

Parenting Workshops with Lael Stone

Transform Parenting is an organisation that supports parents to grow and learn with their children from pregnancy to the first 7 years of parenting, through workshops, events and memberships, both in person and online. They are holding a Saturday event about managing the big feelings and behaviour of young children, and a full day Sunday couples workshop about helping parents to get on the same page with their parenting.

Invitation to 'A Bluey Perspective'

A free family event with ‘Bluey’ creator Joe Brumm will be held at Merici College on Wednesday 11 September. Presented by Catholic School Parents Canberra and Goulburn with the support of Catholic Education, the event aims to bring families from across the Archdiocese together, to listen to Joe talk about why he thinks Bluey has been such a success and the important role parents play in their child’s learning and development. Numbers are limited so please register via the link below.
