A message from the Assistant Principal and Mrs D's "Thought of the Week"

with Nina De Rosa

Celebrating NAIDOC Week at SJV

What is NAIDOC Week?

NAIDOC Week is celebrated across Australia in July each year to recognise the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This week is a time to embrace the diverse and vibrant cultures of Indigenous Australians, and it serves as an opportunity for everyone to come together and learn more about the First Nations people.Indig.png

The students will focus on this year’s theme: “Keep The Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud!”

SJV will be celebrating NAIDOC Week with an afternoon of sporting activities, led by our Yr 6 students, A selected number of students will also attend our system Mass with Mrs Kain and Mr Rodda on Friday morning.

St John Vianney's Concert Extravaganza for 2024 - The Wizard of OZ!

SJV have traditionally had a concert on even years.  Our last 'live' performance was held pre-COVID in 2018, when our current Yr 6's were in Kindergarten.  This should be an very exciting community event.

Staff Professional Development

On Monday, while families were enjoying an extra day with their children, staff were focused on diving deeper in to the eight big ideas that are the foundations of Catalyst. Understanding and reflecting on these ideas will support teachers to refine their practice and continuously make instructional decisions informed by the evidence and based on the Science of Learning and Science of Reading.

Th 8 Big Ideas are:

I thank all staff for their engagement and willingness to keep learning and for the extra hours during their stand down time away from their own families to prepare for Term 3 learning.

HATS ON - BEING SUN SMART

In line with our SunSmart policy, children will need to wear their hats again from August which is at the end of next week.  Please spend time locating their school hat ready for playtime from next Thursday.
