Principal's Message

The Church celebrates the Feast of St Peter and St Paul on Friday 29 June.

St Peter and St Paul were extraordinary men and role models in the early Christian Church. As leaders in the early

Christian community, they were instrumental in shaping the identity of the Christian Church so it was firmly founded on Jesus’ teachings and his ways of doing things. They represent two great traditions within the Church. St Paul's strength of tradition and prayer and St Paul's valuing of new ideas and outreach to others.

The question Jesus puts to his disciples is the very same question that he puts to us every day of our lives, ‘Who do you say I am?’ How we choose to answer this question will be reflected by whether we hold the teaching and example of Jesus as being important to us.  This commitment to being in a relationship with Jesus is then displayed by our attitude towards self, others and to life itself.  Throughout our lives, our understanding and spiritual journey will change and develop, leading us to answer this question differently and constantly asking questions and challenging ourselves to strive towards being His hands and heart to others.

End of Term Awards

Tomorrow, Friday (28th June at 2.15pm) we will hold our Awards Ceremony at which we recognise the efforts of students during this semester. These awards recognise achievement, school spirit, commitment to improvement and consistency of effort. Within each class there are four distinct awards that can be received by students –

« St John Vianney Award

This award is presented to children who follow the example of our patron saint, St John Vianney, and continually strive to do their best by putting in a concerted effort. Children who work at ‘doing ordinary things extraordinarily well’ receive this award.

«  Personal Best Award

This award is presented to children who have achieved a ‘personal best’ in a particular area, whether in an area of school work, work behaviours or in sporting endeavours. This is for children who work their hardest to improve and achieve the best they can.

«  Christian Leadership Award

This award is presented to children who show leadership like Jesus, leading others by good example. Children who give others a fair go, who play gently, fairly and inclusively, are peaceful to be around and who give up their time in the service of others earn this award.

«  Academic Excellence Award

This award is presented to children who have achieved to an outstanding level either overall or within a particular field of study within the curriculum.

A special award associated with our School Vision is awarded to one child from each grade. It may be awarded for any one of the four categories: Build, Belong, Become or Believe.

Semester Reports

Individual reports will be available on COMPASS on Friday 28th June.

When reviewing the report with your child, I encourage you to celebrate their success as well as set goals for next term. I thank all staff for their care and dedication in making, interpreting assessments,  and entering grades in preparation for reporting session.

Extra Curricular Activities

NETBALL GALA DAY - Children from Years 5 and 6 participated in a Netball Gala Day on Tuesday at the ARAWANG netball courts.  The team were undefeated most of the day and displayed wonderful sportsmanship.  Mr Young who supervised the team, commented on the way the team worked together to support each other, but impressively allowed a poorly performing team, enjoy their game by 'stepping aside' and allowing the team to flourish by not being competitive.

Well done SJV!

Upgraded Netball hoop on play ground - Thank you Matt Thorpe for installing new netball hoops on the playground.  They are able to be spun around to meet the 2 different levels of Netball - Junior and Senior

Safety! We all need to do our part.

Staff have noticed families beginning to park and stop outside the parking bays during school arrival and pickup.  I spent a few afternoons reminding families that there is no Parking on red curb as you enter the school grounds (under/near basketball post).

In the interest of student and community safety, please only park in the designated parking bays.  If you need to 'drop' or 'collect' and run - This option is available, if you stop in the drop off zone near the Hall entrance.  Alternatively you are able to wait/gathering on the footpath near the garden(that's being renovated) and once the children have advised the duty teacher they can walk along the crossing to you.

Please help us enforce these rules with your children by parking correctly.
