Winter Woollies
The Vinnies School Engagement Team will be visiting our school in Week 8 to explore the intricate topic of homelessness. The team will lead engaging workshops that cover concepts within homelessness at an age appropriate level. They will also explain to students the work the volunteers do with those sleeping rough and the donations they need to help people who are most in need. We will be holding a Winter Woollies Day on Thursday 4th July (Week 10), where students can wear their favourite winter woollies (favourite jumper, hoodie, oodie) in exchange for a donation of much needed supplies for the Vinnies Night Patrol van. We welcome donations of:
- hygiene essentials
- blankets
- gloves
- scarves
- socks (new)
- jackets
- jumpers
- beanies
- sleeping bags
- sleeping mats
Donations may be brought in ahead of the day and given to your child’s classroom teacher or the front office. Your generous support of this worthy cause is very much appreciated.
Gospel Reflection: Mark 4:26-34
In today's Gospel from Mark, Jesus uses the Parable of The Mustard Seed to teach us about the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom grows mysteriously and steadily, often beyond our understanding or control, much like seeds growing into plants. Even the smallest acts of faith and kindness can have a profound impact, much like the tiny mustard seed growing into the largest of plants. In our school community, let us remember that our small acts of love and service contribute to a flourishing, supportive community, nurturing one another with faith and trust.
School Masses
As a school, we regularly attend the Wednesday morning 9:30 am Mass at St John Vianney’s Church. The choir sings at this Mass and sometimes our students have a role in other parts of the celebration. Parents and friends of our school are welcome to join us alongside parishioners at this Mass. Dates the school will be attending Mass term and next term are as follows:
Term 2 Week 9 - Wednesday 26th June: Parish Mass, 9:30am (led by Year 2)
