Principal's Message
Welcome to the end of Wk 2
A reminder that next week is Meet and Greets where you can set goals for your child and raise any issues that you think will benefit their educational journey for 2024.
Thank You, Jesus, for all You have done for me. God, give me the strength to find new hope and set me on a new course forward to live the life You have for me. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
Introducing our new School Counsellor
I would like to introduce our new school Counsellor Mari McKenzie. I have placed her Bio below and if you feel that your child would benefit from counselling due to a challenging issue they are facing, please use the link provided.
My name is Mari and I have been part of the Marymead CatholicCare Student and Family Counselling team since 2022. I have worked in some of our regional schools as a student and family counsellor.
Prior to that, I worked at various schools in Canberra for 4 years providing students with positive learning. I enjoy working in educational settings.
I am very excited about starting at St John Vianney’s Primary School and becoming part of the school community.
I will be at school on Friday. If you have any questions relating to the counselling service at your school, please feel free to contact me through the school.
If you would like to refer your child, please use the link below or use the QR code to access the school referral form.

Front Office Drop Off and Pick Up Procedure
A reminder to all parents, new an old, of our school procedure for drop-off and pick-up of students at the Front Office.
If arriving late or leaving early for appointments or other family matters, students must be signed in or out at the Front Office.
If arriving, students will then take themselves to the classroom or if needed, be taken by a staff member. If leaving the school, the office will contact the classroom and students will forward to the Front Office, either on their own or with a classmate, to be collected by their parent or guardian.
If you need to drop a lunch or a hat to your child this can be left at the Front Office with Mrs Simpson and we will ensure they receive it in time.
This procedure reduces potential disruption throughout our school and we thank you for your support.
Access to the School Calendar - How to navigate
Mobile Phone – If you are using your mobile to access the newsletter, you will go to a home screen that has a banner of some of our students at the top. On the blue banner which contains the school name there are three lines to the left hand side. Click on this and you will get a drop-down menu. The last access item on the drop-down menu is the school calendar. Click on this and you will see at least one weeks’ worth of events. Scroll to the end and you can see more events and dates into the future. I would suggest keeping at least two weeks ahead.
Computer – If you are using a computer, go to the SJV website home page and click on the Communication Tab. A drop-down menu will appear, and you will select Calendar. You will see a month’s worth of events, but you must hover over them or click on the link to see a full description. Website home page
FaceBook - Like SJV on facebook and you will have access to posts that are added to our FaceBook page.
Student Medications
A reminder to parents to return student medications to the Front Office for any student that requires daily or necessary medication to be administered during school hours.
Please provide the "Action Plan" for your child so we know the correct dosage of medications and procedure to follow.
As the parent/guardian, we require you to sign in the medications to be administered when you bring them into the Front Office.
Canteen - Ash Wednesday 14th February
As is our custom at SJV, next week, there will be a modified menu for Ash Wednesday which does not include meat.
God bless you and your families.
