A message from the Assistant Principal and Mrs D's "Thought of the Week"
Reports became available on Compass last week. It is important to remember that a school report is not the definitive measure of your child’s abilities. It is only one measure amid a wide range of opportunities, experiences and activities. Setting a pattern of constructive support should help make report time a productive and positive experience that will help your child make progress at school.
A few tips:
- Find the positive aspects of the report and praise your child;
- Take into consideration that the A-E grading scale is very different to the one you would have experienced;
- Discuss what your child found difficult. Look at work habits, routines, diet, sleep patterns, etc; and
- Discuss how things could be improved. Offer some constructive/criticism and attainable goals for next year.
Special thanks to the teachers for the many hours of work, outside school time, that go into marking assessments, preparing, editing and finalising the written reports.
The Story of the Candy Cane
There once was a candy maker who noticed that people had forgotten the real meaning of Christmas - that it was Jesus' birthday. He decided that he would try to help him to remember, so he made a piece of candy in the shape of a J. He made it white with red stripes. The white reminded the people that Jesus was perfect and the red reminded them of Jesus' blood when He died for us. As time went on people turn the J upside down and hung it on the Christmas tree and it became known as the candy cane. This year why not give J's to everyone to help them to remember that it is Jesus birthday.
Thank you to Mrs Isbel for her reminder about the Candy Cane this Christmas.
Merry Christmas
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all as a community. The commitment of staff, students and families has truly made 2023 a successful school year. I am grateful for this community and continued support.
I wish you all a safe and Holy Christmas season. May you all enjoy family time and a relaxing holiday period. Please look after each other and be safe in travels and festivities.
