Principal's Message
Dear SJV Community
Welcome to Wk 10
Dear Lord, please allow me to embrace Advent in the way the Church intends: as a way to prepare for Your arrival. May everything I do–every gift I send, every party I attend, every meal I share–remind me to prepare space in my heart for You. Amen.
Announcement 2024
It is with much excitement that I would like to announce that our wonderful REC and Year 1 teacher Mrs Laura Matchett, with her husband Ryan, are expecting their second child in 2024. As such Mrs Matchett will be working as a supernumerary for Term 1 and the first two weeks of term two, she then plans to begin Maternity Leave.
The above news means that SJV now welcomes Mrs Emma Donaghue to our staff for 2024 as classroom teacher, and then Acting REC once Laura takes Maternity Leave. Emma is currently Acting REC at St Benedicts and is a very experienced classroom teacher. I am sure that you will make Emma feel welcome.
Christmas Carols 4:00-5:00pm
Given the predicted temperature of 32 degrees tomorrow, we have decided to relocate our Carols Concert into the hall.
The idea will still be to bring a blanket and some food and listen to (and join in) our wonderful students singing classic Christmas carols. Come and join in the festive spirit and take part in the fun.
Reports
For students that are leaving SJV this year, a reminder to go onto Compass to download your child's Semester Reports. It might be worthwhile downloading all your reports that have been loaded onto Compass so that you have a copy on your device. The Reports will be available only until 27th December you must download, save and print them before this date.
Classes and Staffing & Class Up - 2024
This Thursday the children will spend a 30 minute session with their 2024 classroom teacher. This is to dispel any anxiety children may have about who their teacher will be next year.
It is important over the holiday period to build up excitement about returning to school, talking to your child about seeing their friends, working with their teacher and learning new things. This helps dispel any transitional anxiety and prepares your child with a good mind set for the new year. Your assistance with this would be very much appreciated.
