Prayer for Remembrance Day
Thank you to our Year 5 students for leading their class groups in a Remembrance Day Prayer Celebration yesterday during Heart Space time. The theme of the prayer celebration was ‘let peace begin with me.’ Year 5 taught our students about how to be people of peace. Together we prayed for peace in our world and remembered the lives lost to war. One of the prayers we prayed yesterday was the Prayer of St Francis, which I’d like to share with you this week, as we all pray for an end to conflict throughout our world.
Prayer of St Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
Sacraments 2024
Students who are eligible to make one of the Sacraments (Reconciliation, First Eucharist or Confirmation) next year have received a formal invitation from the Parish to be part of the Sacramental program for 2024. These invitations were sent home with students last term. We encourage you to read the information (on the back of the invitation) and visit the Parish's website for more information. The Parish website is: https:/stjvwestoncreekblogspot.com/
If your child has not received an invitation and you would like them to receive one of the Sacraments, or if your child has received an invitation for the wrong Sacrament, please let me know via email: laura.matchett@cg.catholic.edu.au
Eligibility for each Sacrament is as follows:
Reconciliation - open to students who have been baptised Catholic and who are in Year 3 or above.
First Eucharist - open to baptised Catholic students who have made their Reconciliation and are in Year 4 or above.
Confirmation - open to baptised Catholic students who have received their First Eucharist and who are in Year 6 or above.
It is possible to receive more than one Sacrament in the same year, however, the Sacraments usually need to made in order (i.e. Reconciliation, followed by First Eucharist, then Confirmation). These questions and other general enquiries about the Sacramental program are best directed to the Parish Office via email: SacramentalOLA@cgorgg.au
Updates and information about the Sacramental program will be published in the school newsletter and Parish bulletin throughout the year.
We encourage families of candidates completing a Sacrament next year to attend one of the Parish Masses this weekend for the official launch of the 2024 Sacramental program.
