Dear SJV Community

Welcome to the end of Wk 7

Staffing Announcements for 2024

It is with a very heavy heart that I have accepted Mr Ben Lowe's resignation from SJV.  Ben has been a mainstay at SJV for the last 12 years and has decided that now is a good time to move on.  His departure will be felt by all staff, whether it be in the ICT role, as a relief teacher or as a very friendly staff member who is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure the job gets done.

Ben has taken our ICT program to new levels, with the introduction of coding in Scratch, Scratch Jr and Python as well as introducing exciting work such as programmable robots and ‘green screen’ film-making.  These are just a few innovations he has brought to the ICT program, none of them touching on his role as head troubleshooter extraordinaire.  For all the reasons mentioned and many that were not, Ben will be sorely missed, but I know you will join with me to wish him all the best for his new school and his ongoing career.

We also farewell Miss Ruth Blackwell. We have had the pleasure of her sharing many stories about her cat, her bright and cheerful attire and her passion for renovating. Ruth has accepted a contract in one of our other system schools.  We thank her for her time at SJV and wish her all the very best for her future career.

Finally we say goodbye to Mr Jess Gibson who is part of our Learning Support Team.  Jess is almost finished his teaching degree and will be taking on relief days at differing schools to further develop his pedagogical skill set.  Thank you, Jess for your dedicated work and sense of fun.

I take this opportunity to announce that Mr Wayne Young is taking on the role as ICT Coordinator as well as his classroom teacher role.  This will mean that for a day and a half a week, Mrs Mandy Cowley will be joining our school in 2024.  Mandy is an experienced teacher in our system and will be an asset for our school.

Mrs Diskin will continue to be at SJV in 2024 as Religious Education Coordinator Relief and Mrs Spackman will continue in the Library but also provide Early Career Teacher Relief.  We will also welcome back Mrs Sarah Emerson, returning from maternity leave, on a part time basis.

As was announced in a Compass message last term we welcome aboard Ms Anna Mihalyka and Ms Olivia Hart who will also join our teaching staff in 2024.

School Fees 2024

Detailed information has been given to school concerning next year’s Tuition Fees.  The school will send a letter out to all parents next week that outlines the School Based Fees and CE Tuition Fees for 2024 to enable families to plan for next year.

Important dates

The wonderful Mrs Simpson has sent out an Important Dates/Housekeeping note via Compass, in the Newsletter and a hard copy.  Please pin it to your fridge so you can stay informed.

Swimming - Wk 10

Thank you to the majority of families who have returned their swimming notes and paid for classes in Wk 10.  Just a gentle reminder that if you have not done this yet, to do so ASAP.

God Bless
