Gospel Reflection John 6:51-58
“He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me and I live in him.”
Reflecting on the Gospel of John 6:51-58, we are reminded of the message that Jesus shared with His disciples. He spoke of Himself as the living bread that came down from heaven. This passage invites us to contemplate the Eucharist, the central sacrament of our Catholic faith. Just as physical food nourishes our bodies, the Eucharist feeds our souls, strengthening our connection with God and His redeeming love.
It is no coincidence that the feast day which celebrates the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (known as Corpus Christi), takes place as children in our Parish prepare to receive their first Eucharist. Our deepest desire is that all of our children approach the Eucharist with humility and gratitude, recognising that it is through this Sacrament that we receive the abundant life that Jesus promises.
Vinnies Winter Appeal -
Our Youth Ministry team will be launching the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal next week. The Vinnies Night Patrol van will be visiting our school in Week 9 to explain to our students the work the volunteers do with those sleeping rough and the donations they need to help people who are most in need. We will be holding a Winter Woolies Day on Friday 23rd June (Week 9), where students can wear their favourite winter woolies (favourite jumper, hoodie, oodie) in exchange for a donation of much needed supplies for the Vinnies Night Patrol van. We welcome donations of:
- Non-perishable food
- Blankets
- Gloves
- Socks
- Jackets
- Beanies
- Sleeping bags
Donations may be brought in ahead of the day and given to your child’s classroom teacher or the front office. Your generous support of this worthy cause is very much appreciated.
