Principal's Message
Dear SJV Families
We are at the end of Week 7 with a long weekend planned for some well earned R&R. If you are going away, please travel safely and come back to us well rested on Tuesday.
Below I have placed a prayer for travellers.
Lord, be our guide and our protector on the journey we are about to take. Watch over us. Protect us from accidents. Keep us free from harm to body and soul. Lord, support us with Your grace when we are tired. Help us be patient in any trouble which may come our way. Keep us always mindful of Your presence and love. Amen.
Mrs Matchett
Mrs Matchett will be taking long service leave in weeks 9-10 this term. She is very much looking forward to an extended break and spending some time with her family. Kathy Monagle and Rosie Howard will be teaching Year 1 during Laura's absence, so please let them know if you have any concerns or questions during this time.
SCC Google Survey - Where to next?
The School Community Council would like to ask our parent community for direction moving into the future. A main function of the council is to assist with fund raising and then use this money to improve educational outcomes and the school environment for the children. Examples of how the council has helped in the past are items like purchasing artificial turf, funding extra learning support in classrooms, organising shade structures for play equipment and purchasing readers for students. This two minute survey will allow parent input and help the council prioritise future focus. Please follow the link below to access the survey.

Soccer/Netball
I try and see most of our students at their weekend sport at least once, notwithstanding if they make a Grand Final! I have seen our netballers in action already and took the opportunity last weekend to see three of our soccer teams. What struck me was the fun all the children were having and the efforts parents put into making this work. I must single out the Year 2 team who played an extraordinary game slotting in two goals for their first win in three years.

Reports
Teachers are currently in the middle of finalising grades for student reports. All of our staff have attempted to meet with parents in interviews earlier this term, which should ensure that nothing is a surprise. These reports that have taken much thought and time to create and help all stakeholders set new goals for Semester 2.
Canteen News - Biggest Morning Tea
Thank you to all the parents and wonderful grandparents who
made cupcakes to help raise funds for the Australian Cancer
Council. SJV punched above its weight raising over $250 for a very worthy cause. Thanks Mel for organising this very tasty event.
Farewell Mrs Perryman
A sad day for our school as we bid Mrs Perryman goodbye as she takes her well-earned Maternity Leave, she will be sorely missed for the next 12 months. We cannot wait, however, to see her visit us in Term 3, with her new bub in arms.
God Bless
