Dear Parents/Carers

Welcome to the end of Week 7.  This week we celebrated the Feast of the Assumption, acknowledging the gift given to Mary for her shining example, when she accepted God completely into her life.

Father in heaven,
all creation rightly gives you praise,
for all life and all holiness come from you.
In the plan of your wisdom
she who bore the Christ in her womb
was raised body and soul in glory to be with him in heaven.
May we follow her example in reflecting your holiness
and join in her hymn of endless love and praise.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

NCEC Conference Sunday 4th- Wednesday 7th September

Next week I will attend my first National Catholic Education Conference.  This occurs every 2 years, although due to covid, it has not been on anyone’s agenda since 2018.  The conference presentations are topical and on point with what many Catholic schools are facing in education today.  Some of the presentations I will be attending are on Governance, Principal Leadership in Catholic Education, Evangelisation and Catholic Identity and Embedding Quality Mathematics Teaching and Learning, just to name a few.

Fr Michael -  Prayers for his family

Can we please keep Fr Michael in our prayers, unfortunately his sister passed away recently and he is in Singapore spending time with his family.

Father’s Day Breakfast

Pastries were eaten, the coffee truck was a hit and Father’s Day presents were sent home this afternoon.  What a great day we had for parents to gather and celebrate our wonderful male role models of the SJV community.  Whether they be dads, stepdads, grandpas or significant male role models, everyone had a great time.

A big thank you to the amazing Year 2 mums who led this event, they really created something very special for us all to enjoy.

School Disco Friday 16th September 5:30pm-7:45pm

It has been ages since we had our whole school disco, thankfully it is back on again.  Tickets include bright lights music and food, what more could a primary student ask for.  Please come along and watch your child dance the night away for two hours. You can catch up with other mums and dads wearing ear plugs.  Purchase tickets via QKR.

Catholic Education Commission Invitation

From time to time the Catholic Education Commission seeks new members to cover any gaps or to fill vacancies.  I would be most appreciative if you could include the attached in your parish bulletins over the next few weeks and also, please encourage members of the parish to consider expressing their interest in joining the Commission.

As we explore the practical meanings of Synodality – the Commission is one of the instruments through which members of the Archdiocese can co-operate with the Archbishop in our evangelising ministry.

Nurturing Your Child Through Transition

As we approach the end of this term, parents are thinking of the sometimes stressful time of transition for their children.  Whether this is because you are relocating to another state or moving onto high school, this can be a challenging time for students.

The link below is connected to a parent website which gives some useful insights into the strategies you might be able to use to lessen the impact of some roadblocks you may face.
