Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers

Welcome to the end of Week 1.  This term will be a challenge for all our families in the face of what is predicted regarding the pandemic.  As such I have placed this prayer below.

Father, please hear us when we tell You of our concerns of sending our children and educators back to school.

Know that we are striving to make all of the right decisions and need Your love and power to help us overcome any difficulties.

Please watch over everyone as times and routines are about to change once again.

We know that we can do anything through You, so please help us ensure health and semi-normalcy in the coming months.

Keep our students, our families and our communities safe

We give our hearts to You, now and forever.  Amen.

Covid 19 Practices – CE Letter

Earlier this week you received a letter from the Director of Catholic Education.  Below I have placed some further information regrading cancellations and practices that we will be adopting for the term. It is important to remember that these changes are based on predicted staff and student absences and aimed at reducing the risk to our community.

*Household contacts – Recommended to stay at home.  If attending school they must take a Covid test 24 hrs prior to attending and then every 48hrs.  Staff, students and visitors are not to attend school sites if displaying flu and cold like symptoms.

*P&F fundraisers may still occur onsite with appropriate mitigation measures in place

*Cancellations – School excursions, limited parent contact within the school during school hours

*Masks are not mandatory unless you are over 12 and are a close contact to someone with Covid

*School indoor assemblies can occur, but parents are not to attend.  Friday outdoor Awards Assemblies can be attended by parents who need to remain social distanced

*School sports and training can continue

*Mitigation measures kept in place: Physical distancing, handwashing, ventilation in classrooms, high touch cleaning will continue to occur

*RAT’s are available from schools on request

*Information nights can be held outside school hours

*Parents and staff need to continue to notify the Front Office of positive cases at home

*If there are high numbers of Covid cases in you child’s class, families will be notified

Announcement – School Library and Year 2JB

I would like to inform our community that Ms Samantha Heath has decided to resign from her position as Librarian and Year 2 classroom teacher.

Sam has taught in primary schools for just over 15 years, almost all of these, exclusively at SJV.  Sam, however, has decided to step back from being a school librarian and classroom teacher as she pursues other career avenues outside of education. Her many skills and talents will be sorely missed, but we wish her all the very best with her new career. Her final day at SJV will be Friday 5th August.

I am happy to announce that Mrs Spackman has accepted the position of librarian until the end of the year.

The role of classroom teacher for Year 2JB on Fridays, has already been advertised and will be filled soon.

School Clubs

A reminder that the school now has all its lunchtime clubs up and running.  If your child is interested in any of the clubs below, please encourage him/her to speak with their teacher to find out how to join.

Games Club (Mr Young) – Friday

Environment Club (Mrs Spackman) – Wednesday

Choir Yr1-6 (Mrs Mullamphy) – Tuesday

Outside Lego Club (CSA’s) – Alternating Monday and Wednesday

Pupil Free Days - Friday 5th August and Friday 9th September

Unfortunately due to staff absences and a shortage of relief teachers staff have missed vital preparation and planning time.  This situation has been recognised by the Catholic Education Office who have reserved the above days to reimburse teachers for last term and projected missed time for this term.

Could you please make arrangements for your child on these days as no supervision will be offered.

God bless you and your families
