Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Carers
Welcome to the end of Wk 7. This will be my last newsletter before I take Long Service Leave at the end of next week. I would like to thank everyone for their support of the school this semester and I hope to see everyone at the Trivia Night next week.
Lord: In the midst of winter, when the days are cold and wind can pierce remind us of the warmth of your love. In the midst of winter, when days are short, dawn comes late, and dusk arrives early remind us that in the darkness your light still shines. Amen.
Friday 27th May – Inside Clubs Start Again
We have welcomed back almost all our clubs this week and this has been announced to all the students. I have placed our schedule below and would appreciate it if you talk about these fun options with your children

· Wednesday - Environment Club (Mrs Spackman)
· Thursday – Inside Games Club (Mr Young)
Trivia Night Friday 17th June
At this point in time it looks like we will have enough to move ahead with our Trivia Night scheduled for next week. Having said this, it is not too late to get a table together with friends or buy a ticket and our organisers will find a table for you.
Tell Them from Me – School Improvement Survey Reminder – Access ends next week
This survey was sent out last week. If you have ten minutes to give helpful feedback to the school please click on the emailed link that was send out last week, and using constructive criticism, let us know how we can improve the teaching and learning environment at the school.
It’s Great to Be Back – An unsolicited email from a parent
"It was so lovely to be physically in the school this morning.
So much goes on every day at SJV that really makes an impact on the development of children and their families.
This is what I saw and felt from my very short time in the front office area this morning and also at drop off for our child this morning
I saw Mrs De Rosa at the playground gate welcoming students to school.
When I walked in the office, it was a warm, welcoming and a cosy feel.
I saw our child excited to see their siblings and some of their friends on the photos pinned up at the front entrance.
I saw my younger child directly welcomed by staff members.
Mrs Spackman and I had a chat with her about readiness of children for Kinder. She also spoke directly to my youngest.
I saw two children heading off for the cross country! - They were very excited and they both warmly said hello to me.
I saw my children each being spoken to as individuals by the Principal and I learnt new things about my children during the discussion.
I saw some Year 1 children at the front desk handing over the blue bag and being spoken to so warmly by Mrs Simpson. She knew them both by name.
I saw children well-mannered at the desk and smiling.
I saw a kinder child needing help from Mr Rodda and a support staff member and being cared for appropriately to cater to her needs.
I saw children getting looked after by caring staff in the First Aid room.
I saw Parents (including me) being looked after at the front desk by Mrs Simpson and Mr Rodda, both of them taking time to let me know admin details for school fees.
I saw smiling parents and parents heading through to help on tuck-shop.
I was able to use the front area to quickly chat with a parent relatively new to the school and make some connections and offer support. What a great morning!
X-Country Carnival
A big thank you to all the parents and Mrs Emerson who supported our brave runners yesterday at the carnival. At a balmy 8 degrees the children represented our school proudly. Well done everyone.
God Bless
