Dear Parents/Carers
Welcome to the end of Wk 5. The end of May signifies the end of Mary’s Month that began over 700 years ago. As we move into Winter it is good to remember all our mothers and mums to be at SJV, keeping in mind all the sacrifices they make for their family
Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with you, blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb. Holy Mary mother of God pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Friday 27th May – Industrial Action Notice
A reminder that SJV will be operating all classes as usual tomorrow.
Working Bee – Sunday 5th June 10am-12:30pm
A flyer was sent home last week with students asking for volunteers for our working bee. This will be the first chance we have had as a community to give the school a good tidy up. Could I ask parents to respond whether they can come or not via the tear off slip or an email to the front office. We can then plan the work ahead of time as well as catering for our BBQ.
If you have wondered how, you can support the school, but can never make it during the week, THIS EVENT IS HOW!
Athletics Carnival
A huge round of applause goes to our organiser, Mrs Laura Matchett who put together a fabulous carnival. This would not have worked without our amazing volunteers who braved the cold of the day. The children had a marvellous day with everyone competing in multiple events. Ribbons will be handed out at tomorrow’s assembly and a letter for those moving to the South Weston/Woden Representative Carnival will be given to students at a later date.
Anxiety, Stressed, Over Covid? - The Brave Program
As part of a CE Professional Development held last week, I attended a very interesting and poignant webinar on the well-being of our students after returning from 2 years of Covid lockdowns and isolation restrictions. One of the counsellors from a CE school commented that on a survey that said reported anxiety had grown from 6% of students to 82% of students. CAMP Australia research determined that over 80% of principals and parents reported that students had increased feelings of disconnection, social anxiety and the ability to emotionally regulate. Below I have placed a link to a free online resource, called The Brave Program. May Enrolment Month - Reminder
We already have many enrolments for kindergarten next year. If, however you know someone who is looking to start school in 2023 or move schools this year or next, please let them know what a wonderful school you attend at SJV. We would love to take them on a tour of the school.
School Colour Run
We officially begin our Colour Run tomorrow afternoon. Children will be looking for sponsors to help raise funds for much needed school resources. Children will bring home information tomorrow that will give you detailed information of how you can support this fun initiative.
Trivia Night Friday 17th June
Flyers have been distributed to our entire community. If you would like to make a table or be placed on a table please utilise our Qkr! app to make a booking. More information can be found in this newsletter.
Tell Them from Me
Next week you will receive a Compass notification regarding a survey that you can use to give the school feedback on our performance. This is an opportunity to make your voice heard. Please be mindful that your comments are taken seriously and focusing on growth points is a positive way for the school to move forward.
