Dear Parents/Carers

Welcome to the beginning of Term 2.  I am sure that everyone enjoyed a wonderful Easter during the holidays.  I have placed a reflection link below that highlights the importance of this amazing time in our church calendar.

Covid 19 – Changes for Term 2

There have been a considerable number of changes for our Covid protocols for this term moving forward.  A compass message with an attached letter will be sent out shortly after today’s newsletter.  Please read this carefully.

Open Day – Sunday 1st May

This Sunday we will be holding a two-hour open day from 10am to 12:00 midday.  Mrs De Rosa, Mrs Matchett, Mrs Simpson (Jet) and I will be conducting tours of the school for interested parents and their families.  If you know of anyone who is looking for Kindergarten in 2023, please send them our way.

Athletics Carnival 13th May– Lunch Order Reminders

A reminder that if your child is having a lunch order on our Athletics Carnival Day (upon our return to school) that their lunch order must be finalised on Qkr! by tomorrow.

X-Country Carnival – Friday 6th May 1:50pm-2:45pm

Next Friday the children (weather permitting) will participate in the X-Country Carnival. The school has sent a note home today with all the information regarding this event.  It would be great to see as many people there as possible to cheer on the children.

Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea and Gifts

Due to the recent change in Covid protocols, Mother’s Day for the school can now be be held on Friday 6th May at 2:45pm for our mums outside the canteen.  Some children have brought money in for gifts which will be given to children on Thursday afternoon 5th May.

For ordering we have placed a Qkr! Order link for parents to use to order Baker's Delight, danishes and croissants, tea and coffee will be provided.

A 3/4 cohort letter asking for parent helpers will be handed out to our 3/4 classes tomorrow.

The children’s pastry orders will be handed to them as they come out of school at 3:10pm after the X-Country.  They can then play on the equipment and oval whilst our mums enjoy a well-deserved coffee and a sugar hit.

Parent Class Contacts – Shout Out

We are still placing a shout out for Parent Class Contacts.  If you haven’t signed up for a role at SJV before, or even if you have, this is your chanced to add value to your child’s class.  It usually means a couple of organised activities per year or semester.  Please send in an email to the front office expressing your interest.

St Clare’s – Try a Day - May 4th

St Clare’s have asked for our support in promoting their upcoming Try a Day (4 May) and Open Evening (5 May) to your Year 6 students. Students are welcome to catch their local St Clare's school bus if they require transport and they will be supervised before and after the scheduled Try a Day program.

You can register their daughter's attendance at www.stcc.act.edu.au

ANZAC Day Essays

Well done to Emma, Ava and Chloe who all submitted very high-quality essays for the Woden RSL Sub-Branch ANZAC Day competition.  All girls were commended on their efforts and the news passed onto us is that Emma has placed amongst all the competitors.  Well done, Emma!

God bless you and your families
