Winter Woolies

This morning Wes from St Vincent de Paul came and collected all the warm clothes our community so generously donated over the past few weeks. The donations will be shared among a few different organisations to help people doing it tough this winter. A huge thanks to Theresa, our Youth Mintster as well as Annie, Jaeda, Nikita and Emily, the SJV Youth Ministry Team, for coordinating and promoting the collection. 

Today 1/2 B led us in celebrating the Feast Day of Mary MacKillop. Mary was an ordinary Victorian farm girl who devoted her life to the service of God and did great things for Australian and New Zealand families. She was born in 1842 and later on became a school teacher. Mary MacKillop and Father Tenison Woods started the ‘Stable School’ in 1866. Mary and her sisters taught the children about God. In 1867 Mary MacKillop became a nun – Sister Mary of the Cross. Mary’s motto in life was “Never see a need without doing something about it”. May we always have the strength and courage to follow her example.

The Feast of the Assumption

On Thursday, 15th of August, we will be observing The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This celebrates the entry of Mary into heaven, body and soul. All students will be attending Mass at 12:15pm. All are welcome, as it is a Holy Day of Obligation, we would love to see lots of families present to celebrate as a community.
