Happy Birthday Luca
During Term 3, ELC children participate in Mura Gadi Gang each week. Mura Gadi is a nature play program that is unique to St Jude’s ELC. It allows our children to explore and investigate the varied natural green spaces available within the local community. The program is child led and builds off the interests and activities expressed by the children in the previous week. The program connects the children of the St Judes ELC to their natural surroundings. These interactions with nature are initially guided to support the embedding of Indigenous perspectives authentically into both the language and the play of the children. Before each Mura Gadi Gang, the group participates in an Acknowledgement of Country to Ngunnawal land. Children are encouraged to use what they discover in nature and are taught how to do so safely and respectfully. No play resources are taken to Mura Gadi Gang to enhance children’s play; children resource their own games and activities using only what the land provides them.
Mura Gadi means ‘Pathways for searching’ in Ngunnawal language.
We have all enjoyed meeting up with our Year 5 buddies after the school holidays. The Turtles and Year 5 Happy Campers enjoyed a Bananas and Pyjamas Party, the Lobsters created robots with their buddies and the Stingrays created Shape Monsters with their buddies.
St John Vianney’s Athletics Carnival
Due to the amount of rain this week, the ELC will not be attending the SVJ Athletics Carnival. Unfortunately we will not be able to reschedule this event.
COVID-19 adjustment and changes
Thank you for your understanding and support during these challenging times. It is important that we all ensure that only 6 adults (over 16yrs) are in the foyer area at any one time. Please remember to maintain 1.5m distance at all times.
Check-in CBR
We are asking all adults - staff, parents, carers and visitors to use the Check In CBR app when they enter ELC grounds. The general rule is, if you leave your vehicle or come inside the school gate, find a QR code and check in.
Gymnastics
Thank you for adding your responses for a possible second term of gymnastics. It was an overwhelming YES!
Parent workshop
We are very fortunate to have access to the primary school councillor, Olivia Bowring-Greer. Olivia will be running a workshop ‘The road to resilient children’ on Wednesday 25 August (week 6). She will discuss what resilience is and how this can affect and/or benefit children. As your children are preparing for Kindergarten next year, you might find this topic particularly helpful.
Hats
As we approach August, the sun UV is getting higher. ELC staff check the UV each day, once it is three and higher children must wear hats. Please ensure your child has a hat packed each day. The uniform shop has hats available if required. Please ensure hats are clearly labelled.
