Principal's Message
Welcome to Week 7 Term 2
Below I have placed a prayer that I wanted to share with our community
Lord Jesus, You came to make things new. I will never again be exactly as I am today; Help me to become more like You. My normal routine isn’t written in stone; Help me to be open to Your inspiration. Sometimes I wax nostalgic; Help me to embrace this day, too. Other times I am challenged by everything that happens in the world; Help me to welcome Your Spirit of hope. Each day involves choices, big and small; Help me to be a sign of Your love. Amen.
Compass Parent Portal – Student Semester Report Access
We have a new administrative system used by CE that has been rolled out to multiple schools. From a parent level, you have used this system when signing your child into the school using the Kiosk terminal at the Front Office.
As of next week, you will be given access to our Parent Portal in Compass. This portal will allow parents to receive information about your child’s school and their progress. It will give you access to school reports, messages, classroom blogs and the ability to submit attendance notes. The portal is accessible via the web and the Compass School Manager App (via the App store on your device).
This Parent Portal will make engaging with your child’s school faster, easier and more secure.
Instructions on how to register and Login Id's will be been sent to all parents next week via email.
YOU WILL NEED TO REGISTER TO BE ABLE TO ACCESS YOUR CHILD’S REPORT IN WEEK 9
Go Tell Them From Me– Student and Parent Survey
As part of our focus on school effectiveness, SJV will be participating in an online survey – Tell Them From Me® (TTFM®). The survey will provide us with valuable feedback on what our students, staff and parents think about school life and how engaged community is with the school. Schools in Australia and around the world have used the Tell Them From Me survey to help them improve.
During next week, all of our community will be given the opportunity and time to participate in this survey.
Parents will be sent a link by email tomorrow to access this survey. Staff and students will be given a random username and password to access and complete the survey online. Names cannot be linked to responses, which allows surveys to be completely anonymous.
Participation in the survey is voluntary, if you do not want to take part or have your child take part in the survey, please let me know.
New Library Furniture
To make our library even more functional, we will be removing the purpose built ICT desk as it has outlived its usefulness. New adjustable desks on castors will be purchased so that the library space is more adaptable to the students and school’s needs.
New Primary and Infants Readers – Colour Run Funds
The school is currently in the process of purchasing new class readers for 3-6. The school will choose these readers from the ACARA recommended reading list ensuring that the texts develop the skills of our students whilst being engaging at the same time.
As part of the Catalyst strategy, our school will be engaging in the Initial Lit Program in 2022. In preparation for this initiative, a suite of readers to support our K-2 children in the classroom and at home will be purchased by next term.
The Colour Run funds raised by our community are being used for these purchases.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Thank you to all parents who have already met with their child’s teacher regarding progress and goal setting. If you have not done this, please make a time to discuss your child’s needs for next semester.
Cyber Safety
Next term the ThinkUKnow team will present to our Year 5/6 cohort information on how to stay safe online. This will occur on the 21st July. Please try to keep your evenings free that week as we are currently negotiating a Parent Session to coincide with the student’s information presentation. If you would like to see the type of information that is discussed I have included a link to their website here - https://www.thinkuknow.org.au/
Semester Awards – Date Change – Monday 28th June 9:30am
Please note that our Semester Awards will be held on Monday of Week 10. This is to enable the choir to be led by Mrs. Mullamphy before she takes some well-earned leave.

God bless you and your family.
